| Ant Problems (Round 3)...

Frustrating problems... Not only are these bus climbing patios, bypassing bug spray, they are now clawing under stucco, through the walls, and into the house. Just yesterday, I discovered a trail of ants marching through my livingroom. We had some people over last Friday. There was ONE soda can left in the kitchen. These ants managed to dig though the walls, marched across the livingroom, through the dining room, through the length of the kitchen, up the recycle bin, into that finished soda can. At least we do know about one non-toxic solution that still works inside the house. Baby powder has been our fall-back answer. Everytime we had ants, as long as there is no moisture nearby, we would spread baby powder on them. It works quite well. However, where there is no baby powder, it's fair game. The side effect is it's white everywhere. It definitely out weighs ants everywhere. Unfortunately, we cannot have baby powder everywhere, nor can we leave it around and not vacuum it up.
Recently, we heard about using coffee grinds. Luckly, I am a coffee drinker, so there is no shortage there. I had a chance to try some yesterday. It does not have the immediate effect as baby powder. After some time, I did notice some detering effect. Nothing major. I see it as "free" cure since I throw it away anyawy(post drip). Maybe coffee and bug spray will prove to be THE deadly combination. Maybe it's time for me to go into the lab and come up with my own mixture of coffee grind, baby powder, and bug spray.

As we refused to have the contractors finish the job, they deducted some money from the originally agreed amount. We now have to finish the projects.
It's not going to be quick. However, it's just a great feeling to be able to kick-back on the sofa again.  |
