Cat Lovers Beware! The Real Tom and Jerry Show.
  10/11/2011 12:01:40 AM

Many people know that I am not particularly a cat lover. In fact, I am allergic to cats. However, this entry has nothing to do with my personal feelings towards them. This is a merely a witness to an event.  Warning, this can be a bit graphic.

If you are a cat lover, and kiss your cats, or let them kiss/lick you, you might want to think again.  Last week, when I got home from some errands, for some reason, I decided to walk towards my front door. I normally enter through my garage. As I walked through my front yard, I was surprised by two cats, one larger, and one smaller.  The larger was probably about two feet long, not including the tail.  The smaller was no more than one foot long.  I was able to determine that these were house cats.  They were clean. I know I've seen them around our neighborhood.  Not wanting them to linger in my yard, I tried to shush them away.  As I was doing this, I noticed a hesitation in their movement, as if they didn't want to leave.  After several attempts, I managed to chased them off my lawn. As I turned around, I was caught in shock when I saw a dead rat on my lawn. As much as I could tell, it was a fresh kill.  The body was not dried. The tail was missing. It was on its back. There was a one inch cut in its belly and fresh blood stains. I decided not to deal with it at the time because I was getting ready to head out for dinner.

I went into the house for a couple of items. I came out no more than five minutes later. I decided to check out that rat again. To my surprise, it was no longer there! What I saw next, I thought I would only see on the Discovery Channel.

Hiding near my side yard, were the two cats. The larger one was just sitting there, no different than what you would see a cat doing in the livingroom.  The smaller cat hid behind a flowerbed. Right there, in my yard, it was eating that dead rat. From where I stood, I was able to see the rat, and the cat just munching away at it. Goes without saying, chills went down my spine. I'm still shaking it off as I am writing this!

The next morning, when I went out to my yard, I was not surprised when there was no trace that they were even there.  No bones, no fur, no tracks, nothing was there.

Now, I am not telling you not to love your cats. I am simply telling you what I saw. Next time you kiss your cat, or let your cat kiss you, just make sure you know where that mouth has been.
