| Working with Classes...

I am a novice when it comes to ASP.net. A few months ago, I took it upon myself to learn it. Since then, I came across quite a few things. One of the topics is working with classes. At first, all of my code resided in the CS page of each of the aspx pages. I quickly noticed that I was recoding many common funcitons. There had to be a better way. I read up on classes. I discovered that it was my solution. All I had to do was catagorize my code well, I could build something that actually makes sense. Not only that, it would be much easier to manage.
I started off fine. Instead of reworking every page of the site, I used classes only for my new pages. Things were working fine until I started to tweak the old pages. I guess this is the draw-back for classes. When one page crashes, it brings the whole class down. With a hosted solution, the only way for me to "reset" was to repopulate the \bin directory. That took a while to track down.
I am happy to report... all "should be" well. I am waiting for the code to be really tested as more people hit the site today. | |

As we refused to have the contractors finish the job, they deducted some money from the originally agreed amount. We now have to finish the projects.
It's not going to be quick. However, it's just a great feeling to be able to kick-back on the sofa again.  |
