Common Courtesy
  7/12/2008 6:18:38 PM

What ever happen to common courtesy?  I was on a flight today.  During a stop through Austin, the few of us heading towards Orlando did not deplane.  As we waited, we noticed that people started to board.  After the pre-board of groups with children and seniors, a mid-age couple made it as the first couple on the plane.  They sat down behind us.  The first thing that happened, even before the lady sat down, she started to complain about a ringing sound.  After sitting down, she started to make a huge deal about it.  She started to be so obnoxious that the fellow Orlando-bound passanger put on their noise-cancelling headsets, myself included.  Unfortunately, we could still hear her.  It was worse than that scene when Bart Simpson kept on asking Homer, "are we there yet?"  As other passangers were bording, she hit the attendant call button, and waved her down.  When the attendant told her the sound is from the service trucks pumping waste from the restrooms, she started to make a scene of how it's not professional to let passangers on the plane with so much noise.  She just would not stop.

It was at the point where I wanted turn around and ask her to keep it to herself.  Whatever happen to common courtesy?  If she had the right to complain about the noise, then I feel that I have the same right to complain to the airline for letting her board.  She made more noise than that pump.  No one else was bothered by that pump, but everyone was bothered by her scene, her husband included.  How can people be so rude.  At that age, one would think they've grown out of thinking that the world revolves around them.

Just to make sure no one get the wrong idea thinking that I am talking about them, I want to be clear who this lady was.

JetBlue Flight 1416 from Austin to Orlando, July 12th, 19A.

I would like to ask the lady to lay off the sauce before flying.  In case you didn't have anything to drink, maybe you should work on some manners.
