| The Reason For The Season

Received an email today. It took me to this.
In this holiday season, let's not forget the reason. At about this time last year, I stood in line at the mall, as part of the crowd shopping. In front of me, were a couple of mothers carrying out a conversation regarding their kids. One of the mothers told the other that since her kids were little, she taught them that on their birthdays, they get one gift because it's their day. Christmas is Jesus' birthday. Instead of asking for presents like all the other kids, they should give Jesus the gift. Jesus wants us to help the less fortunate around us. Instead of getting a present for Christmas, they do volunteer work serving the poor.
Unfortunately, in this great nation of ours, established under God, has now merchandised Christmas into a reason to shop. Instead of being thankful for God's provisions through the year on Thanksgiving, people are being thankful for the deals they can get on Black Friday. This year, before we go out, and swipe our credit cards, maybe we need to take a minute and reflect on what He has done for us. As we pout on missing the last Wii in the stores, let us remember that Jesus paid the price for us, even when He knew that we would turn the focus from him to the malls. | |

Been quite busy lately, so I haven't had a chance to update everyone. About 2 weeks ago, we got our furniture back! Yeah!!! It's not completely done yet. As we refused to have the contractors finish the job, they deducted some money from the originally agreed amount. We now have to finish the projects.
It's not going to be quick. However, it's just a great feeling to be able to kick-back on the sofa again.  |

All I can say at this point is beware of trusting everything a contractor is claiming. Never let them "store" your furniture for you. |
