Whatever Happened To Customer Service?
  9/13/2007 11:08:16 PM

Recently, maybe due to the mass power outages in the greater LA area, my cable internet service has not been performing at its norm.  Tonight, it was crawling at best.  Even the simple Google basic home page took some time to come in.  As a result, I decided to call my service provider, Time Warner Cable.

In the past, when I called them, I was always treated with respect.  I've always thought they had good customer service.  A few months ago, a friend of mine was complaining to me how they hung up on him.  I was shocked.  This was not the servie I remembered.

Tonight, when my service was choppy, even after several resets to the modem, I called customer service.  My call was taken by "operator UKU."  To start off, her attitude was quite bad.  I was trying to explain that I am paying for the premium service.  For the past 2 years, I've been fine.  I was just asking if there was an outage in the area.  She just kept on repeating that the only thing she could do for me was to reset my service.  After explaining that the fastest speed I am getting is about 1/2 of my regular, she started blaming my router, my other computers, which were off, and my neighbors.

After she "reset my service," which was more like asking me to reset the modem again, she asked what kind of speed was I getting.  Half way though my sentence of telling her it's not any better,

SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!

What kind of customer service is that?!  How can anyone working on the phone be so unprofessional, and rude.  That's like walking into a company, and while speaking with the receptionist, she slams the front door in your face with you outside.  What's this world coming to?  Whatever happened to customers come first?  Afterall, a fraction of her paycheck IS coming from my wallet right?  Does a receptionist that hangs up on people feel that the problem is resolved?  That's like sweeping the dirt under the rug.  Responsibility or professionalism must not be in her vocabulary. . .

No wonder these jobs are going overseas...  Special thanks to "OPERATOR UKU"
